Matthews, NC – 2017 Annual Report

Enhancing Pollinator Health & Habitat

At our events we gave out brochures giving information about ways to help pollinators. We discussed minimizing pesticide use, planting a variety of native plants and removing invasive species. After planning for a Pollinator Garden in the new town pocket park, it will become a reality this year.

Bee hives are planned to be located at our Phillips Road Community Garden.

Policies & Practices

We are working with the Town of Matthews to eliminate pesticides as much as possible. On 9/16/2016 Town Council made a resolution to endorse the creation of a of a task force by the NC Pesticide Board to investigate neonicotinoid insecticides on pollinators.
